# 7. Tokenomics

$PWT is Permacast’s native protocol token, used to power operation and governance of the permanent content network. The infrastructure — storage, semantic indexing, identity system, distribution network, and governance upgrades — requires accountable, priceable resources and incentive mechanisms. $PWT functions as the protocol’s coordination and value carrier, establishing verifiable economic relationships across components.

At the system level, $PWT plays these core roles:

* Resource pricing: pays for content writes, index updates, semantic processing, and data replays.
* Protocol incentives: rewards creators, index nodes, semantic processors, and frontends to encourage ecosystem contribution.
* Identity & reputation collateral: used as economic stake for certain governance actions, creator verification, and dispute resolution to enhance security.
* Governance: token holders vote on protocol parameters, model/version changes, index rules, and data structure upgrades.

#### 7.1 Token Use Cases

1. Permanent storage & semantic query fees\
$PWT serves as the internal unit to pay for operations like content writes, storage, vector generation, vector retrieval, cross-content semantic queries, and historical replays. Fees settle via PermawebDAO’s data layer and form a persistent consumption model (burns and buybacks).
2. Creator & distribution incentives\
The protocol distributes rewards to verifiable contributors, including content authors, semantic annotators, distribution nodes (transcoding, caching, bandwidth), and long-term maintenance/indexing operators. Rewards are allocated based on content performance, user engagement, and network needs.
3. AI semantic inference & indexing fees\
Invocations of the AI semantic layer are billed in $PWT for embedding generation, semantic feature extraction, trend analysis, clustering, time-series modeling, and multilingual embedding. Fees vary by model version and compute needs and sustain long-running AI services.
4. On-chain identity & reputation participation\
$PWT can be staked to increase identity credibility and resist Sybil attacks: identity staking can boost reputation weight; disputes or appeals may require collateral; content collections/channels can stake to establish baseline credibility. Stakes are verifiable and redeemable per protocol rules.
5. Protocol governance\
$PWT is used to participate in Permacast governance: content schema upgrades, semantic taxonomy updates, AI model switches, index & API optimizations, and data domain changes. All governance actions and outcomes are permanently recorded.
6. Cross-app usage fees & ecosystem revenue share\
Third-party apps (social protocols, AI agents, aggregators) pay $PWT to access Permacast’s content and semantic layers. Revenue is distributed per protocol rules to storage providers, index nodes, model contributors, content creators, and the protocol treasury — forming a verifiable ecosystem revenue share.
